Lafayette History Museum

Client Profile

The Lafayette History Museum is a community museum located in Old Town Lafayette, Colorado, dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of the Lafayette area from its origins in mining and farming through its growth into a modern city. The museum offers engaging exhibits, original artifacts, walking tours, educational programming, and student field trips designed to connect visitors of all ages with the stories that have shaped the region.

Preserving the Lasting Legacy of Lafayette

Lafayette History Museum showcases the dynamic history of the area, from its roots in mining and farming to Lafayette’s recent growth into a vibrant city with its own unique identity. Housed in an 1890s coal miner’s cottage, the museum appeals to adults and children alike. Originally called the Lafayette Miners Museum, the board of directors changed the name to signify the lasting commitment to build and care for an inclusive record of not only mining history, but of the area as a whole. Therefore, the board didn’t want the logo to feature any coal mining-specific iconography. Instead, Red Egg chose to highlight the architectural gable detail from the historic cottage itself.
